A UFO expert says the latest reported sighting over a military base in Shropshire should be enough to prompt a formal inquiry into Britain’s airspace security.
Nick Pope, who used to work for the Ministry of Defence’s UFO project, has viewed recent footage filmed by a soldier at the Tern Hill barracks and said “it’s all getting very interesting”.

It follows a series of UFO sightings across Wales last week.
In one incident, a police helicopter was forced to swerve sharply as it was apparently ‘buzzed’ by a strange craft.
“This all started off with a near miss between an object and a police helicopter on June 8,” Mr Pope said.
“Now it’s transpired that at the same time there were other UFO sightings being reported around the country.
“This lends weight to the fact that there does seem to be something odd going on in our airspace.”
Mr Pope said a formal inquiry should be launched by the MoD and the Civil Aviation Authority.
“All this clearly illustrate that there are flight safety issues,” he said.
“I have seen three separate videos – all were interesting.
“The fact that this latest one was shot by military personnel shows the seriousness of this incident.
“The report from the soldiers will be on its way to Whitehall and the way forward now will be they (the MoD) should interviewing witnesses and examining civil and military radar.”
He added that any hoax or mock-up by military personnel would be a disciplinary offence – and therefore less likely to happen.
“I’ve seen another video which showed a craft with a diameter of, I would estimate, several hundred metres, hanging silently over people’s heads,” he said.
“It was a clear breach of UK air security. So I think something is going on here.

I not so sure about this incident…. as it has stemmed from a Sun article (the paper i love), that was soon relayed to the other tabloid papers, then the other major streamline papers, and soon it hit the world media.
There is a basis of truth in this incident, but how much has been added, is the question.
The official response was “unidentified aircraft” which is interesting… although this could also be not telling us a hell of a lot.
I also disagree with Nick (gullable)Pope, how do we know that the helicopter had a near miss with a UFO….this is from the sun newspaper (no source available)who have papers to sell in the silly season (and not interested in facts). I’m not dismissing it totally (but i find the whole thing unlikely at best), just that this might take on a totally new identity.
I did see some articles, for instance of the Liverpool lights incident, recently, and that it was an “invasion”…. as i live not too far away from the city, most people are completely unaware of this invasion.
Is someone pulling strings from behind the scenes….to hype it up, so as to completely kill off the subject for a while… is it because of the National Archives bringing out the UFO files recently, and so more people are aware/looking into the skies. Is the media playing a major role (this is certain).
What effect will this have on Ufology when it all dies down? I’m not sure, but i suspect that most will be Ufo balloons/chinese lanterns.
I have just written what has come out of my head, so hope this makes sense. I hope to do some investigating soon, so might be able to get part of the answers to this… but unfortunately personal life matters have kind of taken over at the moment.
